Mohammad Rafi Saheb was one such famous singer of yesteryear who used to make people crazy with his voice. Even after so many years of his departure from this world, the lyrics of his songs remain on people’s lips. Yes, when Mohammad Rafi Sahab sang for the first time at the age of 13, he would hardly have imagined that his popularity would increase to such an extent that it would never fade.
Rafi Sahab has worked with many composers and lyricists and the name of the pair with whom he worked the most is Laxmikant Pyarelal. But while recording a song with musician Ravi Shankar Sharma, an incident happened with Rafi Saheb which shocked everyone sitting in the studio along with Ravi Shankar. Everyone wondered what happened to Rafi Saheb when he started crying bitterly during the recording of the song. In fact, just a day before the recording of that song, he had got his daughter engaged and two days later his daughter was getting married, and he was going to leave his house. He also rehearsed that song several times before recording it. But when the final recording started, when he reached the last part of the song, he became so emotional that he could not control his emotions and started crying while singing.
After the recording was completed, Rafi Sahab felt that he had messed up and hence asked the composer of the song, Ravi Shankar, to re-record the song. But Ravi Shankar told him that there was no need to re-record the song. The song sounds very good like this. Well, the recording of the song was not done again and the song was finalized as is. Yes, you heard it right and that song was Babul Ki Duayen Leti Ja. Friends, this song was from the 1968 film Neelkamal, whose lyricist was Sahir Ludhianvi, whose contribution to the Bollywood film industry can never be forgotten. After the release of the film, the song Babul Ki Duain Leti Jaa became very popular and Rafi Sahab was nominated for the Best Playback Singer Award for this song.
